Sea Kayaking
- Island Highlights
Island Highlights
We have added a few extra days on the islands to some
of our Paddling trips. On our new Island Highlights
trips we want to take more time to tour the beaches
of Isla Danzante and Isla del Carmen, two rugged and
beautiful islands offshore from Loreto.
Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrival. For personal service we greet you at the airport
and arrange transfers to your waterfront hotel in Loreto. Then,
join a group orientation meeting with Paddling South's owner,
Trudi Angell, or one of the trip leaders. We'll answer questions
and discuss the next day's plan to help you get ready for a
great adventure. This evening there's time to explore the quaint
cobbled streets of Loreto, and we'll offer some local restaurant
recommendations. Ground transfers, route and town maps, a Bienvenidos!
drink and hotel are included.
Days 2-6 - Enjoy a week of discovery, natural
history, and special tours on the islands. See the general
information about our paddling trips mentioned in the Coast
and Island tour itinerary.
Day 7 - Our final night(s) are spent camping on
a coastal beach near road access in order to avoid being winded
in on an island beach. Because we travel without boat support on
our tours (quiet and ecologically sound) we prefer to take the
extra precaution of access to the coastline at tour end… and we
still have the great desert-island experience that our Bay of
Loreto Marine Park offers.
At trip end we return to Loreto for a taco lunch and hot showers
at the hotel, while in the afternoon there's still time to do some
last-minute shopping before our farewell dinner at a favorite restaurant.
Dinner is hosted by Paddling South and the hotel night is included.
Day 8 - Breakfast is on your own this morning.
For early departures the hotel restaurant can accommodate your
schedule, or head downtown to Café Olé for a leisurely brunch at
the locals' favorite. Your guides will pre-arrange an airport
taxi for departures today or help you with transportation info.
Paradise lost... but come back soon for another great adventure on
sea or sierra and discover more of the treasures of Baja.
(if the trip is listed as longer, we will add a day on the islands
or coast depending on weather conditions)
In October and May warm weather and low wind probabilities
encourage great snorkeling and camping. In early December and
January see the extra low rates coinciding with mid-week travel.
Join a Sea Turtle Monitoring expedition on some of our tours.
